Shada Bokir

Shada Bokir is a Yemeni sociocultural anthropologist and university lecturer based in Vienna. She holds a Ph.D. in Postcolonial Literature from the National University of Malaysia and an MA in English Literature from Appalachian State University, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. Bokir has extensive experience in research and teaching, with a focus on Gender Studies, Social Anthropology, and Yemeni Studies. 

She has contributed to several research projects, including postdoctoral work on local power politics in northwest Yemen at the Institute for Social Anthropology, Austrian Academy of Sciences. Additionally, she has been involved in the ERC project WIBARAB, which explores Middle Eastern Bedouin dialects, within the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Vienna. Bokir has also taught Arabic Literature at the University of Vienna and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
