Seyed Masoud Noori

Seyed Masoud Noori is Founding Executive Director of the Roya Institute for Global Justice and Visiting Scholar at the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at New York University. Before leaving Iran, Noori was a faculty member at Mofid University Law School, Qom, Iran, where he served at the Center for Human Rights Studies in several leadership positions. His professional experiences include working with UNICEF, UNDP, and ICRC. Before joining NYU’s Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies he was an Affiliated Scholar at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, NYU Law School, and previous to that he was a visiting scholar at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he taught courses related to current issues in the Middle East. He also previously served as research director at the Center for the Study of Islam & the Middle East, a Washington, DC-based NGO. He received the MESA Global Academy 2021-2022 scholarship. Noori’s other recent academic posts include positions at Emory Law School and the Irish Center for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland in Galway. His research interests and activities include Islam and Human Rights, Environmental Rights, Legal Clinics, and CLE, SDGs, and Interfaith Dialogue.
