Hamed Isar

Hamed Isar is a Visiting Research Scholar at The University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law (2023-2024). He obtained his LL.M. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2018, where he studied Asian Comparative Law with a focus on clinical legal education. Isar earned his BA in Criminal Law from Balkh University School of Law in 2012.

Isar formerly served as the Dean and Assistant Professor at Jawzjan University School of Law and Political Sciences in Afghanistan for almost 10 years. During his tenure, he established the legal clinic at Jawzjan University and taught courses in Criminal Law and International Criminal Law.

His research interests include comparative law, clinical legal education, criminal law, and international criminal law. Isar published his first international article, "Re-Defining Afghanistan's Presidential Pardon Law and Procedures," in the California Western International Law Journal in 2019. He has also authored several articles published in local journals in Farsi and is currently working on a new research paper.
