Ata H. Darwish has worked at Al-Azhar University in Gaza since 1994. He has served as Head of the Methodology Department and was Assistant Dean of Quality Control from 2009 to 2012.
Darwish received a BA from King AbdulAziz University in Jeddah and an MS from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He also earned an MA from King's College London and a Ph.D. from Ain Shams University. He has more than 40 publications in the field of education and is the author of the 2018 book, Civil Society Values in Palestine.
From 2012 to 2019 Darwish worked with the World Bank to develop a practicum in faculties of education in Palestinian universities. He also worked with QIF (the Quality Improvement Foundation) and Erasmus+ to develop curricula in the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar. UNRWA selected him as an education consultant in 2005-2006, and he worked as a consultant with the GTZ office in Gaza in Health Awareness and the Solid Waste Project. In 2007-2008, he was a visiting lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania.
