
Isam Shihada received his doctorate in English Literature Gender Studies from Pune University, India, in 1999. He worked as Professor of English and Gender Studies in the Department of English at Al Aqsa University, Gaza.
Dr. Shihada wrote books such as Thomas Hardy: A feminist Perspective ,2001, The Novel: A critical Study. 2017 and contributed articles on books such as “A world without Tags” in Scholz, S God Loves Diversity and Justice in Scholz, S, 2013 and “Gaza Strip: They deserve a better life.” in Scholz, S. His forthcoming article, “The Challenges of Teaching Gender Studies in Gaza”. Journal of Middle East Women's Studies.2026. Dr. Shihada is currently working on his book, Everyday is Tragedy: Life and Death in Gaza which will be published by Fortress Press, 2027
Dr .Shihada is a scholar fellow of the IIE/SRF hosted as a visiting research scholar in Southern Methodist University, Dallas, (2010, 2012, 2024-2026) and a recipient of Cara Fellowship in UK, 2019. Dr. Shihada research extensively on topics such as Novel, Gender, Class, Race, War, Religion, Globalization and Migrant Labor.
