On April 8, 2021, Georgetown University's Center for Contemporary Arab Studies hosted a virtual panel titled "The Roots of Socio-economic Inequality: The Arab World." Georgetown faculty members Fida Adely, Salma Al-Shami, and Rochelle Davis were joined by University of Sharjah Professor Ahmad Sukkar.
