Abdul Wahid Gulrani

Abdul Wahid Gulrani (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology, and an Afghan scholar with a distinguished academic background and extensive research experience in migration, security studies, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution, Nation Building, with methodological expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research. Gulrani’s scholarship is deeply informed by lived experience, and he brings a unique lens to the intersection of academic inquiry and policy impact, particularly in contexts affected by war, forced migration, and state fragility. He is currently serving as a Scholar and lecturer at Georgetown University and The George Washington University. From 2024- 2025 he was a Visiting Scholar at Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution- George Mason University.
Currently, He is pursuing two independent research projects: the first is an analytical study on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the second is a qualitative investigation into the narratives of Afghan women who have experienced systematic violence in Taliban prisons, with the aim of documenting human rights violations and examining their psychological and social impacts.
